About us

We, Sue and Anders Fretheim are local organic sheep/cattle farmers in Flåm. We started our family holiday rental business over 25 years ago when renting out a small house. We then built our four waterfront cabins while continuing with the daily running of the farm.

Our eldest son Torstein has now taken over the farm and he with our other three adult children, Rebekka, Hannah and Jørgen are becoming more involved with the holiday rentals and contributing to enhance our business.

Sue is originally from Melbourne, Australia and met Anders while backpacking in Europe over 30 yrs ago. Anders and his family have always been farming in Flåm and can trace their ancestry back to the middle ages.

Our aim and motivation is to have happy and satisfied guests.

Flåm

The name Flåm means 'small place surrounded by steep mountains'. The town of Flåm is true to it's name as it is found nestled deep in a tributary of the world's longest and deepest fjord, the 204 km long and 1308 meter deep Sognefjord.

Surrounded by steep mountainsides, waterfalls and deep valleys Flåm is a wonderful base for a holiday in Fjord Norway. Flåm is easily accessible whether you are travelling by car, boat, train or by bus.

Fretheim farm

The Fretheim farm is beautifully situated over looking the fjord in Flam, in the Aurland Municipality. The farm has been in the Fretheim family since the middle ages.

Sue and Anders Fretheim have recently handed over the reins of the farm to their eldest son Torstein. Sue is from Australia and first met Anders over 30 years ago when she was backpacking around Europe. The farm has for the past 30 years been run organically and currently produces pedigree Dexter cows and has recently started with the production of organically grown apples.
